Welcome to the website devoted to Mishna manuscript JTS MS R1622.1, written during the 12th century in Italy and currently housed in the Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (New York).

JTS MS R1622.1, comprised of 16 folios (each recto and verso), is recognized as one of the most important incomplete manuscripts of the Mishna - though hitherto it has been available to scholars only through personal inspection at the J.T.S. Library or via the now out-dated use of microfilm to visitors at the Department of Manuscripts and Institute of Microfilmed Hebrew Manuscripts of the National Library of Israel.

We are delighted to make this document available to all interested parties through this dedicated website, with kind permission granted by and with the full cooperation of the Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.

For more on the manuscript, see the Introduction.

For details about the transcription, see Conventions.
